The response to "THE DIG" has been very positive. Doing this CD from top to bottom was a great experience for myself and Anthony Vitti,( bass player and co-producer of the project). I wrote many of the tunes on this CD, and co-wrote others with Anthony. The CD features some great musicians whom we have had the pleasure of playing with in the past. Bill Pierce on Sax, (who's musical credits are like a who's who of the Jazz world), Kevin Barry, (who is presently the guitarist for Paula Cole), Duke Levine, (from the Mary Chapin Carpenter band), Dave Limina, (who's credits include Michelle Wilson, Steve Forbert among others), and well known percussionist Mike Rindquist. This CD appeals to musicians in some ways and is very musically accessible to the non-musician at the same time. It is on the Orchard record label, (listed under artists Larry Finn/ Anthony Vitti), and promises to be the first of many collaborative projects from myself and Anthony.
Working on this CD was definitely a learning process. It was recorded in a variety of ways over a long period of time. Some tracks, (mostly tunes featuring Anthony Vitti and Dave Limina), were played live with very little added in terms of overdubs. Other tracks started with me playing keyboards and playing the drum track to a sequence I had come up with. I then had people come in to replace sequenced tracks with real ones. This is not always an easy thing to do.

For the most part, the vocal tunes were origninally instrumentals that morphed into a vocal tune. For me, singing lead in the studio was worth two years of vocal lessons. I have experience singin backgrounds in the studio, but singing lead is a bit different. I'm also excited about writing more vocal tunes. I know my singing will grow a lot in the near future...it feels great to work at someting you know you can improve at, especially when you can really mark your progress, and nothing makes that easier than listening to recorded tracks then and now.

At any rate, all the guys who came in to play epitomized the word professional. Whether it be bass, sax, or guitar, they all played their butts off. They were also very easy to work with. THAT'S how it's supposed to be!!
