Larry Finn is an internationally recognized drummer known for his impeccable time and pocket. He has a long list of credits from virtually every genre of music. His extensive resume includes the National Cast of the Tony Award winning show RENT, as well as performing with many of the industries top artists including Paula Cole, Susan Tedeschi, Peter Wolf, Martha Reeves, Steve Forbert, Lou Pride, Warren Hill, James Montgomery, Al Kooper, Jonatha Brooke, Michael Ruff, Tiger Okoshi, Guthrie Govan, Mario Frangoulis, Rebecca Paris, Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), comedian Robert Klein, Jimmy Vivino,(Conan O’brian), The Uptown Horns, Courage Brothers, Carol Noonan, T Lavitz, Aydin Esen, Kai Eckhardt, Tomo Fujita, Danilo Perez, and many more. He’s also the drummer for the Jon Finn Group,(no relation, not that there’d be a problem with that). Larry has also shared the stage with drumming greats Steve Smith, Gerry Brown, and Rod Morgenstein.
Larry is a Professor at Berklee College of Music where students come from all over the world to study with him. He is an experienced clinician appearing as a solo artist and with others including legendary bassists Abe Laboriel and Harvey Schwartz.
Larry's "Beyond the Back Beat" was voted one of the best instructional books in the 2003 Modern Drummer's Reader's Poll. In addition to that he has released five instructional DVD’s thru Rittor Music in Japan, part of the best selling instructional DVD series in the world.
He also has two critically acclaimed solo CD’s. Larry teamed up with bassist Anthony Vitti to release “The Dig” featuring compositions from both himself and Vitti. The Dig also featured great guest artists such as Jazz great Bill Pierce on tenor sax. His later release “Let The Boys Play” featured his original compositions, some which feature Larry on Vocals as well as some keyboard tracks.
Larry is a proud endorser of Zildjian cymbals, Taye drums, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Remo drum heads.
